Italian aerospace leader Atitech S.p.A. and Alnimr Alarabi Holding LLC, a Saudi investment company with a strong focus on aerospace and future technologies, have signed a Letter of Intent to form a joint venture for the development of an aircraft maintenance and overhaul center of excellence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The partnership combines Atitech’s extensive know-how — as the largest MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) provider in the EMEA region, with operations in Naples, Rome, and Olbia, 12 hangars, and a customer base of more than 100 airlines, leasing companies, and government entities — with Alnimr Alarabi’s financial capacity and regional influence. Together, the two companies aim to establish a leading maintenance organization serving the SEMEA region (South Asia, Middle East, and Africa).

The initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom’s national transformation plan, which seeks to diversify its economy and develop high-tech industrial capabilities, including aerospace. The new MRO center will play a strategic role in supporting regional fleet growth, enhancing local technical skills, and reducing the need for aircraft maintenance services outside the Gulf region.

“This agreement marks a significant milestone in our international expansion strategy,” said Gianni Lettieri, Chairman and CEO of Atitech. “It allows us to strengthen our presence in a fast-growing market and contribute to the development of Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector together with a strong local partner such as Alnimr Alarabi.”

The upcoming MRO hub is expected to meet international certification standards (EASA, FAA, and local aviation authorities), attract local and international clients, and foster workforce development through technical training programs. Once operational, it could become one of the most advanced maintenance centers in the region, enhancing Saudi Arabia’s industrial autonomy and contributing to the Kingdom’s global aerospace ambitions.

This partnership also reinforces Italy’s role as an exporter of aerospace expertise, confirming that national players like Atitech can serve as strategic enablers in the evolving geography of the aviation industry — bridging Europe and the Middle East through technology, quality, and long-term vision.
